My constituents, my fellow countrymen and my dear brothers and sisters have a pleasant good day.  The issues that I am addressing to you are not as new as the high-technology change more rapidly but are old as the society of human being ever existed.  Morality is the paradoxical reality of every person around the globe; it depends upon the culture, religion and outlook of perception of a human person.  What the good for me is not good for you; and the good for us is not the good for others.  Now let me underscore morality; what is morality?  Morality is pertaining or relating to the conscience or moral sense or to the general principles of right conduct.  It is also cognizable or enforceable only by the conscience or by the principles of right conduct depending upon or resulting from probability; raising a belief or conviction in the mind independent of strict or logical proof.

Now let me address the issues of Divorce, polygamy, same sex marriage, early marriage, illegal drugs and war on drugs, one child policy and the issue of reproductive health law in our nation.  Let me address first the issue on divorce in Biblical perspective.  Divorce in the Old Testament is permitted or legal; but on the contrary the New Testament is quite against it.  As we can read in the Gospel of Saint Mathew 9:8-9 (TNIV) Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”  And in the Gospel of Saint Mark 9:10 we can read “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” Yet there is exception to this as we can read in the Gospel of Saint Mathew 5:32 (NASB) but I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for [the] cause of unchastity, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.” it is very clear that the Bible itself provide an exception to the teaching about divorce in the New Testament.  Then my dear constituents it is respectfully submitted that I am in favor of the legalization of a divorce bill or law in the Philippines.

As to the issue of Polygamy, we are already known that our minority Muslim brothers and our native folks are exempted to the monogamous stipulations of our Family Code.  And for my opinion, we should respect this one.  The Philippines is a majority Christian Nation; Christianity teaches monogamy in accordance to the Bible as we can read this one in again the book of Mathew 19:4-5 (NASB) “And He answered and said, "Have you not read, that He who created [them] from the beginning made them male and female, and said, 'For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh”; hence the Philippines should continue to uphold monogamy. 

As to the issue of same sex marriage; with due respect to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community; is a blatant disregards to the moral teaching of Christianity.  As we can read in the First letter of Paul to the Corinthians 6:9 (TNIV) “Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor practicing homosexuals.”  We should love LGBT community, yet this love must be based on morality of human persons. 

            As to the issue of early marriage; I would like to quote the provisions of the Family code about marriage.  Family Code of the Philippines Article 5 which state that “Any male or female of the age of eighteen years or upwards not under any of the impediments mentioned in Articles 37 and 38 of the Family Code, may contract marriage.”  I maintained that the legal age for the male and female to contract marriage is 18 years of age subject to the limitations of the pertinent laws of the Philippines.

As to the current issues of illegal drugs and war on drugs; yet as I had said these issues were not brand new. The fight of illegal drugs is excellent but the means does not justify the ends.  As stipulated in our Constitution the supreme law of the land; “No Person shall be deprived by his life, property and freedom without due process of law.”  If the war on drugs is all about killing drug addict it does not justify its end to eradicate drugs.  Every person has the capacity to change.  If you kill the person then you had disregard our Constitution; hence you are also a law breaker citizen!

On the issue of one child policy; this is an offensive and blatant encroachment of the fundamental right of every Filipino – the right of choice, freedom and the right of life!  I am very against of this policy because it is not only against morality but also against the society as well.  The issue of over population is not about the number of child; but it is issue whether or not the government is true to its mandate about the education and reproductive health reforms in our country.

My fellow countrymen; I would like to borrow the sayings of President John F. Kennedy which states that “ask not what the country do for you; but ask what you can do for our country” Once again good day everyone!

My Analysis

1. Use the Technology Integration Matrix to analyze the class you observed.  In what level of technology integration do you think the teacher operated? Why?

Using the Technology Integration Matrix; in my opinion the level of technology integration of the class that I had observed is in level 5 or in the “Transformation” stage.  In transformation stage, the teacher creates a rich learning environment in which students regularly engage in activities that would have been impossible to achieve without technology.  As I had observed, the teacher used YOUTUBE in showing the class about the lesson of supply and demand.  The teacher also used slide presentation and provides hand-outs for his students.  In my opinion, if the teacher uses only the traditional way, then the class objectives may have not been able to cope with.

2. Based on the Technology Integration Matrix, what is the characteristic of the learning environment in the class that you observed? Point your observations that justify your answer.

Based on the Technology Integration Matrix, the characteristic of the learning environment in the class that I had been observed was “Goal Directed.”  In “Goal Directed” the students use technology tools (hand-outs, slide presentation) to set goals, plan, activity, and monitor progress and evaluate results rather simply completing assessments without reflections.  As I had been observed, after individual activity, the teacher provided immediate feedbacks which in turns the students will give their defense and opinion how they arrive their answers.  The teacher is open to the original ideas of the students even if it is not based on the class discussion.  The teacher encourages his students to think outside the box and to go on the realm of creativity and imagination.

3. Over-all, were the learning resources used effectively? Why? Why not? Give your suggestions.

The over-all learning resources are excellent!  The teacher is master in integrating technology to his class in economics.  He utilized the information found in YOUTUBE and plays it in during the actual class.  The teacher managed to use all resources very effectively in a sense that; the students were able to like, listen and love the discussion as shown in the majority of the class who got perfect and there were no students who got a failed score during the assessment.  The teacher also provides economical prayer in the beginning of the class by way of dancing and singing in the video presentation.

My Reflections/Insights

Put yourself in the place of the teacher.  What would you do similarly and what would you do differently if you would teach the same lesson to the same group of students? Why?

If I am the teacher; I will copy his zeal and mastery in manipulating laptop and computer projector in the class for the smoothness of his lesson.  I appreciate and like his method in giving the students hand-out during class discussion.  His method is fast, sweep, accurate and modern; it facilitates students learning in an optimum level.  The way he handles his class is anchored with the philosophy that the students are the center of the curriculum so do I. 

One thing I would used different in doing the same class is that; I will already downloaded the video on YouTube, because during his (the teacher’s) presentation; the video in YouTube got logged and pause for awhile.  There is a slight break on the momentum of his discussion because of slow internet connection in our country.

But, overall the performance of the teacher is very good and ideal for the education student like me.

The strategies that I will use in the presentation of the lesson of this episode are:

§  Making slide show presentation for the lesson – as already stress-out that the power point presentation stimulate curiosity among students and a time saving method compare to that of copying notes in the board.

§  Hand-outs distribution of the students – this would facilitate individual learning of the students because some of the students are visual based and auditory learners in which they prepare that their lesson is within their grasp.

§  Use multimedia – in this, the lesson will be integrated to audio-visual film; which the students can see an actual movie-like presentation on the topic.

3. How well do you know the topic you have chosen? (Content Knowledge)  Discuss the big ideas of this topic that you would want to focus on.

I had chosen the topic based on the Curriculum Guide (CG) which the Department of Education provide for the teachers not only in the public sectors but as well the private entity to follow.  In the Curriculum Guide you can see the competency which the students should master.  If you knew the competency then you can get any of the available resources in your area or in the internet.

In the topic of globalization; I had emphasize the interconnections of the people around the globe.  The ironic is that the big idea of the lesson is the small world after all due to the advent of globalization.

My Reflections/Insights

1. Reflect how your technological knowledge (TK), pedagogical knowledge (PK) and content knowledge (CK) worked together in fulfilling the task in this Episode.

As I prepare the lesson, there is already an integration of the technological knowledge (TK), pedagogical knowledge (PK) and content knowledge (CK).  As I had already underscores that my technological knowledge helps me in making slide show; multimedia integration in the class and printing hand-out for my students.  Pedagogical knowledge helps me in delivering the lesson via classroom demonstration with the use of multimedia equipments and assessing the students learning in the allotted time based on the lesson plan.  My content knowledge on the other hand is based primarily on the Curriculum Guide (CG) which served as my guiding map in assessing my teaching and the mastery of my students based on the allotted days of the given competency.

2. What are some of the things you can do to enhance and enrich your technological, pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) to be able to facilitate an active, interesting, learning and fun-filled learning environment in the future?

The following things or ideas can enhance and enrich my technological, pedagogical and content knowledge in facilitating an active, interesting and holistic and fun learning environment in the future:

Description of Appropriate use:

This slide is entitled “Demonstration in Teaching” where it outlines the basic and fundamental method of classroom demonstration for a suitable learning environment to occur.  The slide uses different types of graphic animation upon clicking and integrates embedded video for the prayer.  If the video will not play or problem occur during playing; just click directly the file video of the slide.

The good features of the slide presentation are:

§  Eye friendly Theme color or designs – it helps to catch up the attention of the students to stimulate their curiosity.

§  Proper choices of Font – the font color should be in contrast to the theme color; it should be a big size and noticeable to the audience.

§  Graphics, images or pictures – the slide must have graphics and images which serve as the abstract connection to the messages or the text of the presentation.

§  Animation – each slide, pictures and words or text should be in an animated style to stimulate strong attention and curiosity of the students.

Which of these features are present in the slide you made?

All features mention above are present in the slide that I had made; not to mention few additional advance features such as video integration; personal theme design and uncommon font rendering.

Which features are not present in the slide presentation?

As per my answer above; no features were absent on my slide presentation; but if we are going to base the features of a good slide presentation in this book (FS-3) it should be deemed that the feature of “proper citations” is missing in my slide presentation.

My Reflection / Insights

What difficulties, if any, did you encounter in making the slide presentation? How did you overcome them?

The difficulties that I had encounter in making the slide presentation are the following:

§  Sources of the information – the information found in the internet are vast; some of them are not reliable and fake.  In my case, I had taken my sources to the proper and legitimate sites such as the online encyclopedias (Wikipedia; Britannica, etc.,) and online books or ebooks.

§  Integration of the video file – I experience difficulty in this area because some of the video codec are not compatible with Microsoft Power Point. To overcome this problem; I converted the video codec to MP4 or FLV codec.
